Equine Aunties (or Uncles)!
Be paired with one of our exceptional warmblood mares and get ready to become an Auntie to her expected foal!
In this program you will be paired with a mare to work with as your own. There is no mounted work in this program. You will learn handling, groundwork and basic care in weekly lessons. When you are ready you will get to work with the mare on your own in independent sessions. The bonus is… she is expecting! During the program your mare will be in foal and you will get to learn about and share in that exciting process. If you continue through to the time of the birth you will be able to welcome the foal personally and officially become an Equine Auntie!
A maximum of four people (Aunties!) will join together with each mare. Each week you will have a group training session with your mare. You will learn about handling, grooming, bathing and more! The program will provide information about general horse care, nutrition and behaviours so that you can work with, understand and connect with your mare. Every week you will also have one private session with your mare so you can work with her independently and practice what you have learned. Or perhaps you would like to just spend some free time with her on your own. The choice is yours!
Of course, we will explore the breeding and foaling process as your mare progresses through her pregnancy. You will get to attend at vet appointments and other professional appointments throughout the term. Hopefully you can see the foals first heartbeats at an early ultra sound session. As the foaling date approaches keep an eye on your mare from your mobile device. Catch the foaling and you can be there yourself as her foal arrives, making you an official “Auntie”!
Please note that there is no riding or mounted work in this program. The handling is basic ground work only. Participants must be 18yrs of age or older. All COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed. Sessions will be held outside as much as possible. The farm is a beautiful, safe facility with well ventilated, oversized indoor spaces, washroom, good parking and easy access.
Join Phase 1 and book the initial 6 week program to begin. If you enjoy it (we know that you will fall in love with “your” mare!) you can choose to continue on throughout the entire pregnancy term. Your space is guaranteed!
